Welcome to Lumina Studies (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family members. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our progressive web application.
When you sign in with an account, your scripture progress, notes, habits, goals, and related activity are stored on secure cloud servers (hosted using Supabase) and tied to your authenticated user profile so your data is available whenever you use the Service on a supported device.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Adult Accounts
For adult users (18 years and older), we collect:
- First name
- Email address
- Scripture reading progress (for example completed chapters), timestamps, streaks, and related statistics
- Reading plans, “last read” positions, and study focus or navigation preferences the app stores for you
- Personal notes and journal-style content, including optional note types, tags, or references you choose
- Optional daily habit or study check-ins you record (such as prayer and structured study or reflection by date)
- Personal goals you configure (for example weekly reading, prayer, reflection, or note-taking targets)
- Aggregated activity used for your own progress views (for example combined yearly or calendar summaries)
- Account preferences and settings
- Payment information when you subscribe to a paid plan (processed securely through Stripe—we do not store full card numbers on our servers)
2.2 Child Accounts (COPPA Compliance)
For child accounts created by parents or guardians, we collect only:
- First name only
- Login credentials (username and password)
- Scripture reading progress (visible only to family admins and as configured by your guardian)
- Optional habit or study check-ins and goals, if enabled for the child account
- Personal notes (visible only within the family group)
We do NOT collect email addresses, phone numbers, photographs, or any other personal information from child accounts. Marketing emails are NEVER sent to child accounts.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Lumina Studies service
- Track your scripture reading progress and display goals, streaks, and calendar-style summaries
- Store and sync your notes, optional habit logging, and study-related preferences
- Enable family group features and shared accountability
- Send weekly summary emails (adults only, opt-in)
- Process subscription payments
- Improve our service and develop new features
- Respond to your questions and support requests
- Send important service updates and notifications
4. Information Sharing
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Within your family group: Reading progress and shared notes are visible to family admins and members you explicitly share with
- Service providers: We work with trusted third-party service providers (Supabase for database, Stripe for payments, Resend for email) who are contractually obligated to protect your data
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property
5. Parental Rights (COPPA)
Parents and legal guardians have the following rights regarding child accounts:
- Review all information collected from your child
- Request deletion of your child's account and all associated data
- Refuse to allow further collection of information from your child
- Modify your child's account settings and permissions

6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all associated data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain information.
